Pluto in Virgo, the 1957 to 1972 generation
Pluto was in Virgo from June 1958 until October 1971 for good, after arriving in October 1956 and going back to Leo twice before settling in. It stepped into Libra in October 1971, came back to Virgo from April to July 1972, and then moved on. That covers the younger baby boomers and most of Generation X.
Virgo is the sign of work, health and the small daily habits that keep a life running. With Pluto there, this generation remade all three.
The generation that fixed the details
Pluto in Virgo people turned health from something a doctor did to you into something you manage yourself: running, diet, what's in the food, the gym on the way to work. They also changed what work looks like. They were the first to take personal computers to the office and use them for real, and they built a lot of the systems everyone else now runs on.
They tend to judge by results. Does it work, is it efficient, is it done properly? That makes them very good at improving things and quietly hard on themselves when they fall short. The ideal of getting everything right is this generation's gift and its burden.
There's an environmental streak too. Virgo is an earth sign with an eye for what's clean and what's spoiled, and recycling, organic food and the green campaigns of the 1980s and 90s were carried largely by this group as young adults.
