What's my Lilith sign?

Your Lilith sign is the zodiac sign Black Moon Lilith was in when you were born. Astrologers read it as the part of you that won't be tamed or made smaller: what you were told off for, what you refuse to compromise on, and the power that comes back when you stop hiding it. Put in your birth date to find yours.

Everyone born within about nine months of you shares your Lilith sign. The personal part is the house, which needs your birth time, and your whole chart shows it.

What Black Moon Lilith is

Lilith isn't a planet, a moon or an asteroid. It's a point: the Moon's apogee, the place in the Moon's orbit where it's farthest from Earth. Because that point moves, astrologers track its position like a planet's. We use the mean position, the smoothed average that most astrology software shows by default.

It moves forward through the zodiac, spending about nine months in each sign and coming full circle every eight years and ten months.

The name comes from old folklore in which Lilith was Adam's first wife, who left rather than be made to submit. That story is why astrologers gave the point its themes: independence, refusal, and the parts of ourselves we were taught to keep quiet.

How to read it

Your Lilith sign shows the style of that untamed part. Lilith in a fire sign won't have its will or its anger made smaller. In an earth sign it refuses to be ashamed of the body, of pleasure, or of wanting security. In air it won't have its mind or voice dismissed. In water it holds feelings and needs that others found too much.

Lilith usually starts out as something you hide, or something you were punished for. The work astrologers describe is reclaiming it: letting that part of you exist in plain view, on your own terms.

Questions

Is Black Moon Lilith bad?

No. It describes the parts of you that were pushed down, not anything wrong with you. Most people find it a relief to recognize.

Black Moon Lilith or asteroid Lilith?

They're different things. Black Moon Lilith is the Moon's apogee; asteroid Lilith is a small rock that happens to share the name. Pluto Garden shows Black Moon Lilith.

Mean or true Lilith?

The true (osculating) Lilith swings back and forth around the mean position by several degrees. We use the mean, the more common default.
