Pluto Garden draws your birth chart and the sky at the moment you were born. To do that it needs your birth date, time and place, which is personal information. This page explains exactly what happens to it.
The short version: your chart is worked out on our server and not stored there. Your recent charts, readings and chats live in your own browser. We keep something on our side only when you share a chart, draw one through an AI assistant, buy a reading or subscribe to Pluto. We don’t sell data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
Drawing your chart
When you draw a chart, your birth date, time and place (its name and coordinates) go to our server, which calculates the planets and sends the chart back. The server doesn’t save them. The name field is optional and only used to label the chart.
While you type a place, the text you’ve typed is sent from our server to a place-search service (Photon, with Open-Meteo as a backup) to find matching towns. The request comes from our server, so those services don’t see your IP address.
What stays in your browser
Your recent charts (with any name you gave them), readings you’ve unlocked, your conversations with Pluto and a few settings are kept in your browser’s local storage, so they’re there when you come back. They don’t leave your device unless you share them. You can remove a chart with “Forget”, or clear everything by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
The birth sky poster is drawn on your device. Nothing is uploaded to make them.
Highlights, readings and Pluto
The highlights on your chart, the full written reading and Pluto’s replies are written by an AI model from Anthropic. To write them we send Anthropic your planets’ signs, degrees and houses, not your birth date, time or place. Chats with Pluto also send your messages, the recent conversation, and the name on the chart if you gave one. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms this isn’t used to train its models, and it may be kept for a limited time for safety monitoring.
Sharing a chart
When you press share, we save a copy of that chart (birth date, time, place, the name on it, and the reading if you share one) in private storage with our host, Vercel, and give you a link. Anyone with the link can see the chart, so share it only with people you’d show it to. Shared pages are hidden from search engines. Shares are kept until you ask us to delete one: send us the link at privacy@pluto.garden.
Using Pluto Garden from an AI assistant
AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can connect to Pluto Garden to draw a chart for you. When one does, it sends us the birth date, time and place you gave it, and nothing else: we don’t receive your name, your conversation or your account with that assistant. We calculate the chart and save it the same way as a shared chart, without a name, so the assistant can give you a link to your sky. Asking for the same chart again reuses that link. The rest of your conversation is handled by the assistant’s provider under its own privacy policy.
Payments and subscriptions
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your email and payment details on its own checkout page; we never see your card number. We don’t send Stripe your birth details. Instead the purchase carries a scrambled code made from them, which lets us confirm a reading was paid for a particular chart without revealing the details. Stripe also holds a count of the messages you’ve sent Pluto, so we can apply your plan’s limit. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
If you subscribe to Pluto, a sign-in cookie called pluto remembers you on that device for up to 90 days after your last visit. It holds only your Stripe customer reference, signed so it can’t be forged. To sign in on another device, we email you a link through Resend; the link expires after 15 minutes. You can manage or cancel a subscription from Stripe’s billing page, linked from Pluto’s menu.
Analytics and cookies
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t follow you across sites. It records the page, the site you came from, your country and your type of device. Before anything is sent, we strip addresses down so share links, payment references and anything after a “?” or “#” are removed. It also counts a few actions, such as a chart being drawn, a checkout opened, a reading bought or a share link made, and which of our tools an AI assistant used, without any detail of you or the chart. Birth details never appear in it.
The only cookie Pluto Garden sets is the pluto sign-in cookie above. Stripe’s checkout page sets its own cookies for payments and fraud prevention.
The moon widget that other websites can embed collects nothing about their visitors: no cookies and no analytics.
Server logs
Like any website, our host keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, time and the page requested) to keep the site running and secure. We don’t write birth details or email addresses into our logs.
Celebrity charts
Our celebrity pages use birth details that the person has shared publicly themselves, and each page links to its source. If you’re the person on a page, or represent them, and want something corrected or removed, email privacy@pluto.garden.
Who receives data
Only the services named above, and only for the reason given:
- Vercel (hosting, shared charts, analytics)
- Anthropic (highlights, readings and Pluto’s replies)
- Stripe (payments and subscriptions)
- Resend (sign-in emails)
- Photon and Open-Meteo (place search; they see what you typed, not who you are)
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. Some of these services are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, and to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@pluto.garden. In practice, what we hold is any charts you’ve shared and your Stripe record. We’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the UK, the EU or California) you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Pluto Garden isn’t aimed at children under 13, and buying a reading or subscription needs the account holder’s own payment method. A parent can draw a chart or poster for their child; that works like any other chart and stays in the parent’s browser unless shared.
Changes
If what we do with data changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
