The Bitcoin genesis block, block 0, carries the timestamp 1231006505, which is 18:15:05 UTC on 3 January 2009. Drawn for that second, Bitcoin's birth chart has a Capricorn Sun and an Aries Moon, with Mars, Jupiter and Pluto joining the Sun in Capricorn: four planets in the sign of foundations and long-term building.
Bitcoin's genesis block arrived with four planets in Capricorn: the Sun at 13°, Mars at 5°, Jupiter at 29° and Pluto at 1°. Capricorn is the sign of rules, structure and patient construction, the one that thinks in decades rather than days. Jupiter, the planet of growth, is in the sign's final degree and Pluto, the planet of deep transformation, in one of its first, so the group stretches from one end of Capricorn to the other. Lilith is there too, within a degree and a half of Pluto. It's a sky with a builder's temperament: serious, ambitious and in it for the long haul.
The Moon was at 4° Aries when the genesis block was timestamped, in the sign of beginnings, firsts and striking out alone. Aries opens the zodiac, so its Moon is a fitting emotional tone for a block numbered zero. The Moon makes a square to Mars in Capricorn, a degree from exact, and since Mars rules Aries, the pairing hums with drive and initiative. An easy sextile to Mercury in Aquarius links that instinct to quick, original thinking.
Outside Capricorn, the genesis block's sky puts Mercury and Neptune in Aquarius and Venus and Uranus in Pisces. Aquarius is the sign of networks, invention and the collective, and Mercury, the planet of messages and exchange, sits in its early degrees, with the North Node in Aquarius as well. Venus, the planet of what we value, had just crossed into Pisces and makes an easy sextile to Pluto. Saturn in Virgo stands opposite Uranus in Pisces, order and reinvention holding each other in balance. Pluto's sign has its own page: Pluto in Capricorn.
